The Black Lake Mine in Thetford Mines is in its 3rd year of the Black Lake mine stockpiles afforestation program. Aimed at finding methods conducive to the growth of trees in a particularly hostile environment, the project has already identified factors that favour the establishment of certain species.

Viridis environnement now offers efficient solutions adapted to the needs of municipalities with its new “turnkey” service for pumping and recycling sludge accumulated at wastewater treatment plants. This new division for the emptying of aerated or vertical lagoons has acquired two specialized dredgers.

Viridis environnement has signed a major contract with the second-largest agri-food cooperative in Canada. The main part of the contract aims at taking care of all the fertilizing residual materials produced by all its plants in Quebec.

Viridis environnement and Services sanitaires Denis Fortier, in collaboration with the Comité citoyen de l’environnement de la Ville de Thetford Mines, allowed the population to visit the new Centre régional de traitement de la matière organique de Thetford (CRTMO) on October 26th. The 150 participants were able to learn more about the site’s operation, organic matter management and composting processes.

The composting platform of the Centre régional de traitement de la matière organique (CRTMO) has just reached a new stage with the realization of its first compost screening. The compost is the result of the decomposition of organic waste received from the City of Thetford Mines and surrounding municipalities’ brown bin collection, as well as bulk green residues brought to the region’s ecocentres.

Mont-Saint-Hilaire a accueilli en août dernier, le nouveau siège social de Viridis environnement. Une trentaine d’employés s’y sont installés. Il a dorénavant pignon sur rue au 1144, rue King Ouest.

Viridis environnement est particulièrement fière d’avoir été l’une des partenaires d’un projet communautaire financé par des entreprises et des citoyens qui veulent compenser leur émission polluante par l’achat de crédits carbone. Ces derniers sont distribués par la Coopérative de solidarité Arbre-Évolution, spécialisée en reboisement social, en verdissement comestible, en technologie carbone et en sensibilisation citoyenne.

Particulièrement éprouvés en début de pandémie de la COVID-19, les CHSLD et les Maisons d’hébergement avaient grandement besoin de réconfort. Conscients du privilège dont ils bénéficient, des employés du siège social et des différents bureaux régionaux de Viridis environnement à travers le Québec ont entrepris d’aller offrir des gourmandises produites localement, et ce, pour illuminer le quotidien des résidents et des travailleurs de ces établissements.

On June 20, 2019, about 40 Viridis employees participated in a “Team building” activity that took place in the Thetford Mines region. They were invited to visit the Black Lake mine where revegetation work of several dozen hectares is underway.
